hongusorder HONGOS - GUIA DE LA REGION PAMPEANA - Vol. I. Hongos con Laminillas (Fungi - A guide to the humid Pampa region - Vol. I. Fungi with laminas )
by Jorge E. Wright & Edgardo Albertó

This is the first book in detail by recognised authorities on the Fungi of the humid Pampa. It is the first of two volumes, the second will deal with Fungi without laminas.
The principal author Dr. Wright, who has written many previous papers on this subject is very pleased to have prepared what can be called a text book for students, as well as a popular presentation of the fungi as a food and as a poison. The book has a considerable section of the effects on persons, and on the treatments for poisoning, and is recommended to doctors and hospitals who have to deal with patients who are not clear on what they have eaten, but who possibly can identify from the excellent colour photographs, what it was that they ate

orquidasorder ORCHIDS FROM THE NATIONAL PARK OF IGUAZU (Las Orquideas del Parque Nacional Iguazu)
    by Andres E. Johnson

The book is in Spanish, and a translated edition will depend on demand from abroad. This is the first book on some of the orchids of Arentina. Before Mr. Johnson started his studies there were recognised 5 species, this book lists 85. Previous studies had been made in the early part of the 20C by Hauman but his results appeared only in local journals. The author Andrew Johnson has put ten years of his life into the investigation, cultivation, and drawings of the subjects of this book. It will be difficult to equal his selfless determination which has given us this work. As publishers we only hope that our decisions on paper size and quality, as well as the design and printing have produced a book that is worthy of the efforts of the author.
